We believe continuity and local connection is one of the most important elements of Growing a healthy family.
Your doctors, nurses and allied health team love nothing more than working with you to build the size and strength of your family. We have a passion for preventative health, and ideally like to develop a relationship before you fall pregnant, to ensure the health of both you and your partner is the best it can be.
All doctors enjoy providing shared antenatal care, and we have relationships with Mater Hospital maternity care and many private obstetricians to ensure you have a wide range of options for your pregnancy and delivery.
For most women, it is recommended to see your GP soon after falling pregnant to confirm your pregnancy, due date, and desired model of antenatal care. Your GP is responsible for your medical care throughout the first trimester, vaccinations for influenza and whooping cough, and can help you manage the symptoms of early pregnancy.
One of the advantages of seeing your GP throughout your pregnancy is a reduced need for visits to hospital antenatal clinic. This saves you time and establishes a relationship with the clinic, so you feel right at home when you bring your baby in after giving birth. Such a special moment for everyone!
We also have a comprehensive team who provide different aspects of your care. From a wellness perspective, we recommend all women see a pelvic floor physiotherapist during and after pregnancy, and during the third trimester book into our antenatal classes focused on When Baby Comes Home. Your regular care after birth is supplemented by our Brisbane Women's Health Clinic, where more complex concerns can be managed, including IUD insertion.
