Dr Fanar Yacoub

Dr Yacoub is a qualified paediatrician with over 10 years of practice in Australia. She finished paediatric speciality training in her home country Iraq in 2006 and finished her paediatric training in Australia in 2016, spending a long period at the Mater Children’s Hospital, Brisbane. She did neonatal training in both tertiary neonatal units at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. As an advanced trainee and later as a paediatrician, she practiced in different peripheral and regional hospitals (Logan Hospital, Toowoomba Hospital, Caboolture Hospital and Sunnybank Private Hospital). She is currently working at the Queensland Children’s Hospital with regular outreach services to South West Queensland.

Dr Yacoub deals with different paediatric presentation, including follow up of growth and development of the newborn, and has completed both basic and advanced training course on the Prechtl General Movement assessment, which is a non-invasive and cost-effective way to identify neurological issues in babies under 20 weeks post term with high risk pregnancy.

Dr Yacoub enjoys helping with acute and chronic paediatric conditions as well as developmental paediatrics. She is currently working in the public sector as a general paediatrician with a large proportion of community/developmental paediatrics in rural and remote locations. She does regular Telehealth services to those areas to support continuity of care of her patients.

As a mother herself, Dr Yacoub understands the importance of dealing with childhood conditions in a holistic family approach and has a clear appreciation of the challenges of parenthood. She is also passionate about communication and collaboration with other service providers like school and allied health therapist in managing patients. In doing so, she is able to provide well coordinated care for the children and families who call her their paediatrician. This collaborative and community based approach makes Dr Yacoub a good fit with the Growlife Medical team, where we value teamwork and continuity through time.
